Fire Protection

Fire Rated Roller Shutters

Certified fire-rated roller shutters and fire curtains from E60 to EI240 — third-party tested to EN 1634-1 for warehouses, plant rooms, atriums and compartmentation lines across Ireland.

Overview

Engineered for industrial environments

Fire compartmentation is non-negotiable in industrial and commercial buildings. Our fire-rated roller shutters and fire curtains are third-party tested to EN 1634-1 and hold integrity ratings from E60 up to EI240 — meaning they hold back fire and smoke for up to four hours while radiant heat transfer stays within insulated limits.

Every system is supplied with a certified control panel, sealed battery back-up (24-hour standby / 3-minute discharge), integrated smoke detection interface and fail-safe gravity descent. That means if mains power or the fire panel fails, the shutter still closes to protect the compartment — the core requirement of TGD-B Part B and BS 7273-4 Category A.

We work directly with fire engineers, main contractors and insurers to retrofit into existing openings, coordinate cause-and-effect matrices with your fire alarm contractor, and hand over a full O&M and commissioning pack suitable for building control sign-off and insurer inspection.

Typical applications: warehouse compartment lines, atrium and mall closures, plant room protection, service lift lobbies, kitchen pass-throughs, and openings in fire-rated walls where a hinged fire door isn't practical.

FAQ

Common questions from specifiers

Preparing a tender or a maintenance schedule? Our team publishes clear answers so you can specify with confidence.

Do we need certified drawings for building control?+

Yes. Every fire-rated shutter we supply comes with third-party EN 1634-1 test evidence, CE Declaration of Performance, and a signed installer's certificate — the complete pack building control and your insurer will ask for at handover.

How often must fire shutters be serviced?+

Under Ireland's TGD-B and BS 7273-4, fire shutters must be tested and serviced at least every 6 months. Our PPM contracts include 6-monthly drop-tests, battery load-testing and full fire log book documentation.

What's the difference between a fire curtain and a fire shutter?+

Fire curtains use a woven fibreglass fabric — lightweight, compact head-box, ideal for atria and retail. Fire shutters use interlocking steel lath — heavier duty, higher insulation ratings and better for industrial compartment lines. We specify both depending on the fire strategy.

Can you retrofit into an existing opening?+

Yes. Most retrofits are done with a face-fixed head-box and side guides, requiring minimal building work. We survey, confirm the fire strategy with your engineer, then install in a single visit for standard sizes.

Do you interface with our existing fire alarm panel?+

Yes — the control panel accepts a volt-free contact from any addressable or conventional fire panel, and we commission the cause-and-effect with your fire alarm contractor as part of the handover.
